Tell us about your business — what do you do, and what inspired you to start it?
Club Golden is a boutique spray tanning studio in South Boston specializing in customized, natural-looking spray tans with an emphasis on beautiful results, skin-conscious products, and an experience that makes people genuinely feel good.
Club Golden was born during a major transition in my own life. That period taught me a lot about resilience and the idea that our lives aren't defined simply by what happens to us, but by what we choose to do in the moments that challenge us.
During that time, I also realized how important the little rituals in our lives can be. They're the things that keep us grounded, give us something to look forward to, and create small moments of happiness when everything else feels a little uncertain. Sometimes it's something as simple as taking an hour for yourself or doing something that makes you feel a little more confident when you walk out the door.
That idea became the heart of Club Golden.
I've been an esthetician for over 15 years and also have a degree in science, so skin, ingredients, beauty, and the science behind the products we use have always been passions of mine. I wanted to take that experience and create something of my own that combined those passions with this bigger idea of ritual, confidence, and community.
That's where our tagline, “Rooted in Ritual. Inspired by Glow.” comes from. We believe the little rituals that make us feel good can help keep us grounded and when we feel good within ourselves, that's ultimately where the best kind of glow comes from.
What sets your business apart from others in your industry?
For me, it starts with what we're putting on our clients' skin.
Skin and overall wellness are a top priority at Club Golden. I'm probably a little obsessive about ingredients and I'm proud of that. I'm constantly researching solutions, formulations, and ingredients because I want our clients to have a skin-conscious option that prioritizes both beautiful results and thoughtfully selected products.
Our tans are also highly customized. We take into consideration each client’s skin tone, undertones, desired depth of color, development time, and lifestyle rather than approaching spray tanning as a one-size-fits-all service. At the same time, we’ve been intentional about keeping our services accessible. Our goal is for spray tanning to feel like a regular self-care ritual, not something reserved only for special occasions, which is why we offer both individual services and membership options designed for clients who want to make Club Golden part of their routine.
We're taking that same philosophy into our proprietary Club Golden pre- and post-tan retail line, which we've been developing specifically to support the spray tanning process and help clients get the best possible results from their tan. We're incredibly excited to launch the collection in the near future, with plans to eventually make it available wholesale to other spray tan professionals as well.
Why did you choose to join the Chamber, and what do you hope to gain from your membership?
South Boston has an incredible small-business community, and I knew from the beginning that I didn't want Club Golden to simply be a business located in South Boston. I wanted us to become part of the community.
The Chamber has given me an opportunity to meet other business owners, create partnerships, and learn from people who have built successful businesses here. I love the idea that local businesses can help one another grow through collaboration, referrals, and simply showing up for each other.
As Club Golden grows, I hope we're able to do the same for other businesses and continue finding creative ways to bring our communities together.
What’s one thing you love about doing business in South Boston?
The sense of community and belonging. It's also become part of my family's community through my kids and the different activities and organizations we're involved in. So when I was looking for a home for Club Golden, I was really drawn to the strong neighborhood feel here.
One of my favorite things is when our doors are open and someone walking by just pops in to see the space, ask what we do, or simply say hi. That is exactly what we're trying to build. I want Club Golden to be a place where you feel welcome walking through the door whether you have a service booked or not.
For me, the feeling at the center of Club Golden is belonging, and belonging comes from community. The word “Club” was intentional. We want our clients, members, neighbors, and other local businesses to feel like they're part of what we're building.
Can you share a fun fact or something people might not know about your business?
Something people may not realize is how much science, product research, and brand development happens behind the scenes at Club Golden. I'm constantly researching what we're using on our clients and how different ingredients interact with both the skin and the spray tan and how our core mission translates to our brand.
What has been your proudest moment or biggest achievement in your business so far?
Opening the doors to Club Golden.
For so long, Club Golden was a vision I was working toward, so seeing it become a real space, opening our doors, and welcoming our first clients was an incredibly proud moment for me.
Our ribbon cutting made it feel especially real. Seeing friends, family, other business owners, and members of the South Boston community there supporting something I had built was something I'll never forget.
Are there any upcoming events, promotions, or new offerings you'd like people to know about?
There is a lot coming!
First and foremost, we're continuing to grow Club Golden and our membership community in South Boston. We're expanding our member perks and partnerships so that being a Club Golden member becomes about more than simply receiving your monthly tans.
We're also getting ready to launch our Bridal Club, designed to make spray tanning part of the entire bridal experience rather than simply an appointment before the wedding.
Our vision is really threefold: continue growing our first love — the Club Golden studio and community; build Club Golden into a trusted product and education resource within the sunless industry; and continue creating new experiences and perks for our members.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Start before you feel completely ready, and don't be afraid to let your vision evolve.
One of the biggest things I've learned is that you can research and plan forever, but eventually you have to trust yourself enough to start. Some of the best ideas I've had for Club Golden didn't exist when I first wrote the business plan.
I'd also tell someone to pay attention to what they can't stop thinking about. The things you're almost too particular about can become your differentiator. For me, that's everything from ingredients and formulations to the client experience and branding. What might look like obsessing over details is often where your intuition is guiding you.
And finally, build relationships. Some of the most valuable experiences I've had since starting Club Golden have come from connecting, collaborating, and learning from other people in this community.
